Author Visit at Caldwell Middle School – Friday, January 4, 2013

On Friday, January 4, I did an author visit at Caldwell Middle School in Shriever, Louisiana through Story Tapestries and a grant through the Houma Regional Arts Council. I began my show with the story of The Cajun Cornbread Boy. The fourth and fifth grade students in the audience really had fun participating in the tale.

Next, I performed the story of Madame Poulet and Monsieur Roach with help from students in the audience and the on stage. One of the fifth grade students played Monsieur Roach and had his roach buddies partying with him in the story.

My last story was a fun spooky story called “The Ghost of Mable Gable.” The students loved it! Afterwards, I treated them to a little taste of a presentation from my daughter, 12-year-old celebrity Kid Chef Eliana.

The principal, Jessica Rosado, the assistant principal, Mr. Foret, the teachers, and the students told us how much they all enjoyed the presentation. I am really looking forward to spending next week at Caldwell Middle School working with the fourth graders on a writing residency.

Thank you to Caldwell Middle School, Story Tapestries, and the Houma Regional Arts Council for this opportunity! It was a fabulous day!

Until next time…

Warmly, Dianne
