On June 2, 2012, I was one of the authors featured at the Louisiana Children’s Museum’s new Talk and Play Literacy Center. It is built to resemble a Louisiana swamp, complete with a Cajun cottage.
There is a stage for kids to dress up and act out stories. (Little Red Riding Hood courtesy of Eliana)
There is a cool reading nook with a neat bookshelf in the shape of a “C.”
I stayed long enough to catch another author in action: Nancy Parker, who wrote a picture book called Dat and Yat: What’s Cooking? Nancy is a local news anchor for Fox 8 in New Orleans.
I performed my Louisiana book, Mama’s Bayou. The kids were so cute. They sat on the floor on pillows shaped like turtle shells
Here is a picture of Nancy and me together. Yes, I know I’m short. LOL
It was a fun event. Thank you to the LCM staff for inviting me: Edward Begnaud (LCM Store Manager), Cat Bacelieri (Education Director), and Tracy Bruno (Program Manager). Aieeeee!
Until next time…
