On May 22, 2012, I headed to Dallas, Texas. It was a two-part visit. I was staying with my friend, Shannon Spake, a high school friend and also visiting Ben Milam School in Wichita Falls. The first thing I did with Shannon and her son, Hayden, was eat at In-N-Out, which we do not have in Louisiana.
I loved meeting Shannon’s son, who is all boy… This is his frog, Freddy. Ribbit!
Shannon went with me to Wichita Falls and it was such a fun girl trip!
Stephanie Biggs, the librarian at Ben Milam, was my hostess. She is so much fun!
I performed three assembly programs. I performed The House That Witchy Built, The Gigantic Sweet Potato, Madame Poulet and Monsieur Roach, The Cajun Cornbread Boy, and Dinosaur Mardi Gras.
The students and the teachers had a blast. One teacher told me that I was the best author the school ever had in her 21 years at the school. Wow… I’m honored!
It was a great school visit and I had a ball! Thank you so much Stephanie Biggs and Ben Milam Elementary for inviting me to your school. I loved every minute!
Shannon and I headed back to Dallas, where I spent more time with her and her family. I also visited her daughter’s class. Spending time with Shannon felt like a girls slumber party all the time. We had a good time! I can’t wait to see Shannon and her family in a couple weeks when they come to visit me in New Orleans!
Until next time…
