I just LOVE doing school visits! I had the pleasure and honor of visiting two schools in Athens, Tennessee last month. The cool thing is that this is my second visit to these schools in two years!

The first school I visited was Westside Elementary School. My host was school librarian, Beth Jackson. I had such a good time telling my stories, Dinosaur Mardi Gras, Rockin’ Three Billy Goats, and Beware, Beware of the Big Bad Bear.

One little boy came up and performed with me, dancing to the part of the troll in my billy goats story and even ending with a hair-raising split!

I had a fun Mardi Gras themed lunch with students who were chosen to dine with me because of essays they wrote on why they should be able to have lunch with the author. The students were adorable!

When I was signing books, one little girl gave me this AMAZING hand-created card featuring art from my books! Just WOW!

It was such a fabulous visit at Westside. Then it was off to North City Elementary School. The fourth and fifth graders were a blast. I had a ball performing with them on “stage.”

North City gave me such an amazing welcome from the marquis at the front of the school to the bulletin board in the hallway. So cool!

Needless to say, I had such an incredible time at both schools. They all went to such effort to make me feel welcome and loved. It worked! Thank you so much to Westside and North City Schools in Athens, Tennessee for unforgettable school visits!

Until next time…

Warmly, Dianne
